K\u00e4nns lite konstigt f\u00f6r en nattuggla men s\u00e5 \u00e4r det bara f\u00f6r tv\u00e5 m\u00e5nader.<\/p>\n<p>Har \u00e4gnat en stor del av dagen \u00e5t att intervjua folk f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 in fakta n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller fallet med Draken-piloten som jagade ett oidentifierat f\u00f6rem\u00e5l \u00f6ster om \u00d6land 1977. Jag har lagt en sammanfattning av fallet sist i denna blogg. Som ni f\u00f6rst\u00e5r s\u00e5 jobbar jag vidare med h\u00e4ndelsen men det l\u00e4r nog ta ganska l\u00e5ng tid att f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka f\u00e5 fram mera fakta.<\/p>\n<p>Har ocks\u00e5 tittat p\u00e5 ett svenskt fall fr\u00e5n V\u00e4xj\u00f6 d\u00e4r en person har tagit flera filmer mellan den 21 och 24 januari. Per, som han heter, har en webbkamera riktad ut genom f\u00f6nstret och det var p\u00e5 dessa bilder han uppt\u00e4ckte ett m\u00e4rkligt f\u00f6rem\u00e5l f\u00f6r n\u00e5gra dagar sedan. P\u00e5 filmerna, som egentligen \u00e4r ihopklippta av en l\u00e5ng serie webbkamerabilder, ser man ett mycket ljusstarkt f\u00f6rem\u00e5l passera fr\u00e5n v\u00e4nster till h\u00f6ger. Efter att ha f\u00e5tt en cd-skiva med hela material p\u00e5 posten i dag \u00e4r jag s\u00e4ker p\u00e5 att det som har fastnat \u00e4r m\u00e5nen. Bilden ovan en ruta tagen den 22 januari klockan 03.12,51. &#8221;Ufot&#8221;, m\u00e5nen, \u00e4r det ljusstarka f\u00f6rem\u00e5let l\u00e4ngst upp till v\u00e4nster. Att jag kan vara s\u00e4ker p\u00e5 att f\u00f6rem\u00e5let \u00e4r m\u00e5nen (trots de sm\u00e5 ljusen \u00f6ver och under, orsakade av ett dubbelt f\u00f6nsterglas) beror p\u00e5 f\u00f6ljande:<\/p>\n<p>1\/ Alla andra f\u00f6rem\u00e5l p\u00e5 filmen, stj\u00e4rnor och solen, r\u00f6r sig i samma bana som det stora ljuset vilket visar att de f\u00f6ljer himmelsrotationen och allts\u00e5 befinner sig l\u00e5ngt ut fr\u00e5n jorden.<br \/>2\/ P\u00e5 de tre filmer jag har f\u00e5tt f\u00f6r analys ser man hur f\u00f6rem\u00e5lets position f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras fr\u00e5n dag till dag. P\u00e5 exakt det s\u00e4tt som m\u00e5nens positioner g\u00f6r i den aktuella riktningen.<br \/>3\/ F\u00f6rem\u00e5let dyker upp vid de tidpunkter som m\u00e5nen befinner sig i det v\u00e4derstreck som kameran \u00e4r riktad.<\/p>\n<p>Kikade ocks\u00e5 p\u00e5 ett polskt fotofall fr\u00e5n den 14 januari som i vissa delar p\u00e5minner om V\u00e4xj\u00f6-fallet. Ocks\u00e5 h\u00e4r \u00e4r m\u00e5nen inblandad men ocks\u00e5 ett mindre lysande f\u00f6rem\u00e5l som har r\u00f6rt sig kring den och som fotograferats med en mobiltelefonkamera. Inte s\u00e5 l\u00e4tt att s\u00e4ga vad det kan vara.<\/p>\n<p>Passade p\u00e5 att spela badminton med Stefan och den h\u00e4r g\u00e5ngen gick det b\u00e4ttre \u00e4n f\u00f6rra veckan. Krossade honom med 3-0 i set. Antar att jag f\u00e5r sp\u00f6 n\u00e4sta vecka ist\u00e4llet.<\/p>\n<p>Nu m\u00e5ste jag k\u00f6ra Markus till fotbollstr\u00e4ningen och Anneli kom just hem fr\u00e5n yogan. Och sist men inte minst den engelska sammanfattningen av Draken-fallet.<\/p>\n<p>English version of the Draken 1977 incident:<br \/>The encounter happened in the summer of 1977 at around 12 o\u2019clock. The<br \/>experienced Swedish Air Force pilot flew a J35F &#8221;Draken&#8221; fighter plane on a<br \/>routine training mission between the islands of \u00d6land and Gotland in the<br \/>Baltic Sea SE of Sweden when he was diverted from the exercise by the<br \/>ground control radar. The ground control had picked up a target further<br \/>East of Sweden, and the pilot was at the time of the call around 100<br \/>kilometers from the target. Identifying unknown targets were routine during<br \/>these days, Swedish military went up several times every week identifying<br \/>Russian a\/c and American spy planes flying in a strip outside Gotland.<\/p>\n<p>This time the target behaved slightly different from ordinary Russian and<br \/>American a\/c. The radar control on ground, situated 100 kilometers from the<br \/>object, reported it to be stationary, something that was later confirmed by<br \/>the pilot as he approached the object.<\/p>\n<p>In a taped telephone interview made on June 19th 1999  the pilot told me<br \/>that he approached the target at a speed of Mach 0,9 and soon got the<br \/>object on his own radar screen. He was flying at 1.000 meters altitude<br \/>straight towards it and had the object 500 meters above his horizontal<br \/>line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was 10 kilometers from the object it suddenly started to move<br \/>straight up\u201d, he told me. \u201cI never saw it with my naked eye but could<br \/>follow it on my radar and decided to light up (the after burner) and<br \/>started to follow the target. I had a perfect lock on it all the time.<\/p>\n<p>His \u201cDraken\u201d, which was the latest model J35F, climbed at an angle of 70<br \/>degrees trying to keep up with the target. According to the pilot he never<br \/>came closer than 6-8 kilometers.<br \/>\u201cWhen I was at 10.000 meters the object flew out of the radar range,<br \/>straight out in space. It was at an altitude of 40 to 50 kilometers at that<br \/>time. I aborted the chase but stayed in the area for 2-3 minutes trying to<br \/>locate the object but was unable to find anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne strange thing was that while my aircraft was leaving vapour trails<br \/>behind me the object had left none\u201d, he says. \u201cI really looked for them but<br \/>there were none.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The weather was fine with 3\/8 cumulus.<\/p>\n<p>His own comments was: &#8221;I do not know of any single aircraft that would have<br \/>been able to &#8211; from zero &#8211; outfly a &#8221;Draken&#8221; at that time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> He never reported the incident after landing at the airbase F12 in Kalmar<br \/>at the time but reported to ground control that the object was gone as he<br \/>came to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ground control radar did not look at vertical movements after they had<br \/>led me to the target, so when the object started moving upwards it just<br \/>seamed to have vanished of the screen for them\u201d, the pilot said.<\/p>\n<p> The incident came to UFO-Sweden&#039;s attention when he sent an e-mail to us a<br \/>couple of years ago. On June 19th 1999  I made a telephone interview with<br \/>him. Sadly he died in a helicopter accident a year after.<\/p>\n<p>There are of course several problems with this observation. I will just<br \/>list a few.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I had a long telephone conversation with the former commander of the<br \/>last Air Force base that flew Draken here in Sweden. I discussed the<br \/>observation with him first without telling him the name of the pilot. He<br \/>pointed out some problems that we may never get an answer to since the<br \/>pilot is now dead.<\/p>\n<p>1. Approaching the target at Mach 0,9 seeing (on the scope) the object<br \/>starting to move upwards at the time when the jet is 10 kilometers from the<br \/>targets position gives the pilot 30 seconds to react. A fighter flying at<br \/>that speed can not be stopped and even if he immediately decided to climb<br \/>after the object he most probably would have passed its position before<br \/>doing so.<br \/>2. All said in #1 probably means that the radar lock would have been lost<br \/>and he must try and find the target once again before starting the chase.<br \/>3. This is very (very) difficult.<br \/>4. The on-board radar was an PS-011 with a range (in perfect conditions) at<br \/>40 kilometers, maximum. More probably, if you would like to make a safe<br \/>locking, the range was slightly over 20 kilometers.<br \/>5. Climbing at 70 degrees is something that very few pilots would have<br \/>tried.<\/p>\n<p>All this said I told him the name of the pilot and that made a great<br \/>difference to the former commander. He knew him well and had only good<br \/>things to say about him. He also said that &#8221;if someone would have made such<br \/>a climb that would have been him&#8221;. I got the imression that he reevaluated<br \/>the incident after hearing who it was doing the chase.<\/p>\n<p>I have  not yet had time to listen to my taped interview with the former<br \/>commander. There may be other relevant facts that effect the case. He also<br \/>urged me to talk with other former J35F pilots. He has promised to read my<br \/>transcripts from my interview with the pilot, his emailed report and other<br \/>material I have and give me his view again.<\/p>\n<p>I will try and go further on with this in to steps:<\/p>\n<p>1. I will try and trace the radar leader on the ground.<br \/>2. I will contact a former radar expert with the Swedish military<br \/>intelligence who I have known for fifteen years. He knows of every single<br \/>intrusion for decades back. His insights may give me names and new clues.<\/p>\n<p>Since my last mail I have spoken to one of the flight leaders at the radar<br \/>station (called &#8221;Myran&#8221;, The Ant, and situated in a mountain in the south<br \/>of Sweden but defunct since August 2000). He could not recall the incident<br \/>which is not to be surprised of since, as he said, &#8221;we scrambled fighters<br \/>on every single echo we could not identify at that time, and there were<br \/>many&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that many of the echoes turned out to be anything from birds<br \/>to radar angels and that summertime was the time of year with most<br \/>atmospheric anomalies. The altitude was measured from a special radar unit<br \/>connected to the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>I can not say that I were much more enlighted after this conversation.<\/p>\n<p>I also spoke to one other person that worked at &#8221;Myran&#8221; beteween 1977 and<br \/>2000. He told me that no records (i.e. war diaries) were archived &#8211; all<br \/>were burnt after the shut down of the station. That makes it even harder to<br \/>find the exact date. The flight leader also told me that they did not make<br \/>any notes when an aircraft was scrambled if a positive identification was<br \/>not made.<\/p>\n<p>One small anecdote came from the flight leader: In the 1970&#039;s many Soviet<br \/>&#8221;research vessels&#8221; were sailing the Swedish borders. All full of listening<br \/>devices and other stuff trying to intercept radio traffic. At many<br \/>occasions Swedish fighter planes were sent to identify them and several<br \/>times had passed the ships fifty meters away or closer breaking the sound<br \/>barrier and thus destroying most of the Soviet equipment &#8211; probably also<br \/>some ear drums.
